Seeking and obtaining a legal order of protection is just one step in leaving an abusive relationship. Victims of family violence require additional tools and support to escape their situations and avoid further violence. The Legal Emergency Assistance Program (LEAP), which was launched in 1998, provides advocacy and
in-depth case management services to adult victims of domestic violence.
This case management includes helping victims of domestic violence find and access shelter, establish safe housing, child care, counseling, health care and civil legal services. Through our partnership with Legal Action of Wisconsin, Inc., attorneys provide free legal advice and representation.
Services provided through LEAP are available in English, Spanish and Russian and are free of charge. To talk to a LEAP Advocate, call the Task Force on Family Violence at (414) 276-1911 between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
