Thank you for your interest in the Task Force on Family Violence.  Currently we have the following positions available:

POSITION:  Director of Legal Advocacy & Children’s Services
FT/PT STATUS:  FULL TIME 
REPORTS TO:  Associate Director

The Task Force on Family Violence is seeking an experienced professional to work as a full-time Director for the agency’s Legal Emergency Assistance, Child Advocacy and Child Witness to Domestic Violence Program.  This position will supervise Child Victim, Legal Emergency Assistance, and Child Witness to Domestic Violence Program Advocates as they provide victims and protective parents with safety and resource planning focused on the needs of victims and children who are victims of child abuse or witnesses to domestic abuse.  The hours for this salaried position are primarily traditional business hours, Monday through Friday. 

Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Masters preferred.
• Minimum of five years professional experience in advocacy, case management and/or related field 
• Minimum of two years management/supervisory experience required
• Knowledge of the domestic violence victim advocacy service system through direct work experience required
• Experience working with adults and/or children exposed to interpersonal violence required
• Experience working in collaboration with police and court/community systems required
• Familiarity with trauma, and domestic violence
• Ability to listen and help clients develop personal plans for safety and assess their needs for legal and other support services
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously, pay close attention to detail, have critical problem solving skills, think strategically and work as a member of the team
• Ability to work with men and women from culturally diverse backgrounds and make and maintain community connections to resources
• Reliable transportation and a willingness to work on-site in community-based agencies located  throughout the City of Milwaukee


Principal Responsibilities:
Understand available domestic violence resources, the criminal and civil court systems, child welfare system, family court, children’s court and the domestic abuse and child abuse restraining order process
• Supervise, advise and assist advocacy staff in providing services to domestic violence victims and protective parents
• Provide legal resources and community resources to domestic violence victims and to protective parents
• Remain informed about legislation, issues and concerns in the courts and community resources
• Collect, maintain and report client data
• Recruit, hire, train and evaluate all LEAP, Child Advocacy and Child Witness to Domestic Violence Program advocates and assist with training volunteers and interns
• Assist with gathering and compiling advocacy statistics and assist with reports to funding sources
• Respond to calls for support, information, referrals, and/or counsel
• Develop relationships with key players within the legal system, social welfare system and other community players connected to protecting domestic violence victims and victims of child abuse and child witnesses to domestic abuse
• Participate in program evaluation, improvement, planning and budgeting

POSITION:  Director of Development
FT/PT STATUS:  FULL TIME 
REPORTS TO:  Executive Director

The Task Force on Family Violence is seeking an experienced development professional to work as a full time director of development.  This position is responsible for developing, planning, conducting and monitoring fund development initiatives, including donor cultivation and acquisition, grant management, direct mail, special events and planned giving. 

Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Minimum of three to five years demonstrated quantifiable success in fund development including ability to raise funds of over $600,000 per year
• Knowledge and understanding of local community funding sources including corporations, foundations and individuals
• Exceptional written/verbal communication skills including relationship management
• Strong leadership skills including supervisory experience
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills
• Able to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously and on deadline
• Works well with others and acts as a member of the team
• Knowledge of and a passion for the mission of the Task Force on Family Violence
• Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Professional Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Raisers Edge fundraising database
• Must have a car and be willing to travel as necessary 
• Flexibility for evenings and weekends as required


Principal Responsibilities:
Prepare annual fundraising plan and budget to meet the established agency fund-raising goals in collaboration with Executive Director and appropriate committees of the Board of Directors
• Develop, plan, conduct and monitor fund development initiatives, including donor cultivation and acquisition, grant management, direct mail, special events and planned giving
• Research and identify foundation and business grant opportunities from new contributors and current funders with the capacity to provide larger contributions
• Coordinate contacts with current and prospective foundation sources
• Develop and manage donor recruitment, recognition, and retention
• Create/maintain positive relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and staff
• Supervise development staff to include one event specialist
• Provide monthly progress reports on fundraising goals, and other reports
as requested
• Supervise and perform donor database management, analysis and reports 
• Insure high quality and consistent public awareness of the agency
• Work closely with the Development Committee, Marketing and Communications Committee and special event committees

POSITION:  Courthouse Bilingual Legal Advocate
FT/PT STATUS:  FULL TIME 
REPORTS TO:  Director of Courthouse Advocacy

The Task Force on Family Violence is seeking an experienced professional to work as a full-time courthouse bilingual legal advocate.  This position will provide assistance to both English and Spanish-speaking domestic violence victims with filing restraining orders, case management, emergency legal services and courtroom advocacy.  The hours for this position are primarily traditional business hours, Monday through Friday. 

Skills, Qualifications, and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Experience working with adults and/or children exposed to interpersonal violence
• Familiarity with trauma, and domestic violence
• Knowledge of the domestic violence victim advocacy service system through direct work experience preferred
• Ability to listen and help clients develop personal plans for safety and assess their needs for legal and other support services
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Must be fluent, both written and spoken, in English and Spanish
• Ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously, pay close attention to detail, have critical problem solving skills, think strategically and work as a member of the team
• Ability to work with men and women from culturally diverse backgrounds and make and maintain community connections to resources
• Reliable transportation and a willingness to work on-site in community-based agencies located  throughout the City of Milwaukee

Provide legal advocacy to victims of domestic abuse, harassment, and child abuse seeking temporary restraining orders and injunctions
• Remain informed about legislation, issues and concerns in the courts and community resources
• Collect, maintain and report client data
• Provide services including follow-up telephone calls, information and referral to other services, preparation for the final injunction hearing, and accompanying victims to court documenting all contacts
• Assist with training volunteers and interns
• Assist with gathering and compiling advocacy statistics and assist with reports to funding sources
• Respond to calls for support, information, referrals, and/or counsel
